Romania
has a long term tradition in mining, as well as in exploitation of
oil and gas resources. There
have been archaeological evidences of certain mineral resources being
mined even since the Romans’
Empire.
Nowadays, all mineral resources are the property of the Romanian
state. Mineral rights can be legally
obtained, following a concession procedure, from the National Agency
for Mineral Resources (NAMR).
The
Mining Law, as well as the Petroleum Law, have gone through changes,
during the past 10 years, so
that the legal regime they provide, meet a certain set of essential
criteria for private investors and
financing entities in this industry.
